Francois van der Linde

Qualifications: MA Clinical Psychology (Rhodes)

Clinical Psychologist

Francois van der Linde obtained a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Rhodes University in 2007. He is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and is currently working in private practice full-time.

He offers psycho-therapeutic counseling to adults, couples, adolescents, and parents of younger children. He assists people who have been diagnosed with serious psychiatric conditions including bipolar disorder, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and autism (Asperger’s), and he offers in-hospital counseling sessions as part of a multidisciplinary team.

His approach to psychotherapy can be described as “short-term dynamic”, which is informed by modalities such as ISTDP (intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), Attachment and Systems theory. He may supplement the therapeutic process by employing specific tests, questionnaires or techniques if deemed appropriate (BWRT – Brain Working Recursive Therapy; EMI – Eye Movement Integration; with couples – Imago therapy / Gottman method).

Francois van der Linde het in 2007 ‘n Meestersgraad in Kliniese Sielkunde aan die Rhodes-universiteit verwerf. Hy is geregistreer by die Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) en werk tans voltyds in privaat praktyk.

Hy bied psigoterapeutiese berading aan volwassenes, paartjies, adolessente en ouers van jonger kinders. Hy help mense wat gediagnoseer is met ernstige psigiatriese toestande, insluitend bipolêre versteuring, persoonlikheidsversteurings, skisofrenie en outisme (Asperger’s), en hy bied beradingsessies in die hospitaal aan as deel van ‘n multidissiplinêre span.

Dr Piet Oosthuizen

Qualifications: MB.ChB; M.Med (Psych); FC Psych (SA); PhD

Psychiatrist

Piet Oosthuizen is a Psychiatrist. He has a special interest in the treatment of Mood Disorders (Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder); Schizophrenia and Neuropsychiatry.

Piet studied medicine at the University of the Free State. He subsequently specialised in Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University, where he also obtained his PhD in 2003.

Currently he works full time in private practice in Durbanville and has a part time appointment as Associate Professor in Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University.

Psigiater

Piet Oosthuizen is ‘n Psigiater met spesiale belangstelling in die behandeling van gemoedsteurings (bv. Major Depressie; Bipolêre Siekte); Skisofrenie en Neuro-psigiatrie.

Piet het medies studeer by die Universiteit van die Vrystaat en gespesialiseer daarna in Psigiatrie by Stellenbosch, waar hy ook in 2003 ‘n PhD verwerf.

Hy is tans in voltydse privaatpraktyk in Durbanville, en het ‘n deeltydse aanstelling as Mede-Professor in Psigiatrie by die Universiteit van Stellenbosch.


 

Dr Stefanie van Vuuren

Qualifications: MB.ChB; M.Med (Psych); FC Psych (SA)

Psychiatrist

Dr van Vuuren obtains the degree MB.ChB at the University of Stellenbosch in 1995. She qualifies as a psychiatrist in 2005 (obtaining her FC Psych (SA) and M.Med degrees) after working in various medical disciplines in the public sector for a number of years. She has been working full time in private practice ever since.

Dr van Vuuren`s fields of interest include Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Neuropsychiatry.

Dr Stefanie van Vuuren

Psigiater

Dr van Vuuren verwerf die graad MB.ChB in 1995 aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch. Na `n paar jaar waar sy in verskillende mediese dissipilines in die staatsektor werk, kwalifiseer sy in 2005 as `n psigiater (FC Psych (SA) en M.Med grade). Sy werk sedertdien voltyds in privaat praktyk.

Dr van Vuuren se belangstellingsvelde sluit in gemoedsteurings, angssteurings en neuropsigiatrie.


 

Sanche Nel

Qualifications: MA Clinical Psychology

Psychologist

Sanche Nel is a clinical psychologist and her passion is to assist individuals on their journey of empowerment and healing. Change is necessary to develop and heal and all of our experiences are paramount in this process.

Her experience with counseling, along with her own goal of individual growth, led Sanche to the decision to continue full time study in order to complete her Master’s degree in clinical psychology at a mature age.  Sanche has worked in various industry sectors and this equipped her with a variety of skills and allowed her to gain experience with life and its challenges. This enhances Sanche’s own frame of reference and ability to build relationships and function within a variety of cultures and contexts.  She has two adult children and has been married for almost 30 years.

She is creative and enjoys most forms of art and expressions of innermost thoughts and feelings. Her love for people and human connection is reflected in my style of socialising and interaction with friends, peers and clients.


 

Alicia Horak

Qualifications: B.A. (Hons), PGCE, M.A. (Clinical Psychology)

Clinical Psychologist

Alicia Horak a registered Clinical Psychologist. Prior to her work in private practice she completed a community service year at Goodwood Correctional Centre and an internship at Stikland and Tygerberg Hospitals. Alicia has prior educational experience in working as a teacher in the foundation phase.

Alicia works with children, adolescents and adults with psychological, interpersonal or emotional difficulties. Her work includes dealing with moderate to severe mental illness as well as day-to-day stressors. Furthermore, she assists children with emotional or scholastic difficulties. Part of this process entails psychometric testing to determine the root and extent of the presenting problem. She also completes specialised neuropsychological assessments in order to assess, diagnose and treat patients with brain injuries / neuropsychological disorders / other illnesses or conditions that affect the brain.

Therapeutically, Alicia believes in tailoring her approach to each individual’s unique needs and personality. She believes that everyone’s story starts somewhere and therefore enjoy working analytically in therapy to form a deeper understanding. Alicia views this mutual understanding as a roadmap to guide her therapeutic journey with another.

Alicia Horak

Sielkundige

Alicia Horak is ʼn geregistreerde Kliniese Sielkundige. Voor haar werk in privaat praktyk het sy haar gemeenskapsjaar voltooi by Goodwood Korrektiewe Dienste en haar internskap by Stikland en Tygerberg Hospitaal. Alicia het opvoedkundige ondervinding opgedoen tydens haar werk as opvoeder in die grondslagfase.

Alicia werk met kinders, adolessente en volwassenes met sielkundige, interpersoonlike of emosionele probleme. Sy werk met matig tot ernstige geestesversteurings asook dag-tot-dag emosionele en interpersoonlike probleme. Verder help Alicia kinders met emosionele of skolastiese probleme deur Psigometriese evaluasies.  Alicia voltooi ook neurosielkundige evaluasies met pasiënte met brein beserings / neurosielkundige versteurings / ander siektes wat die brein affekteer.

Terapeuties glo Alicia daarin om haar benadering aan te pas tot elke individu se unieke behoeftes en persoonlikheid. Sy glo dat elkeen se storie iewers begin en daarom hou sy daarvan om analities te werk in terapie om ʼn beter verstaan van iemand te vorm. Alicia sien hierdie gemeenskaplike dieper verstaan as ʼn padkaart om haar terapeutiese reis met die persoon te lei.

Dr Henmar F Botha

Qualifications: MBChB (UFS); FC Psych (SA); MMed (Psych) (Stell)

Specialist Psychiatrist

Dr Botha obtained his MBChB degree at the University of the Free State in 2011. He qualified as a specialist psychiatrist in 2021 (obtaining his FC Psych and MMed degrees) with experience working in psychiatric services at Karl Bremer, Stikland, Lentegeur and Tygerberg Hospital. He will be working in full-time private practice in Durbanville from August 2021.

Dr Botha has a wide range of interests in general psychiatry across the lifespan, including conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia/psychotic disorders.

Dr Henmar F Botha

Kwalifikasies: MBChB (UFS); FC Psych (SA); MMed (Psych) (Stell)

Spesialis Psigiater

Dr Botha verwerf sy MBChB graad aan die Universiteit van die Vrystaat in 2011. Hy kwalifiseer as ‘n spesialis psigiater in 2021 (FC Psych en MMed grade) met werkservaring in psigiatriese dienste by Karl Bremer, Stikland, Lentegeur en Tygerberg Hospitaal. Hy gaan voltyds in privaatpraktyk werk in Durbanville vanaf Augustus 2021.

Dr Botha het ‘n wye belangstelling in ’n verskeidenheid psigiatriese toestande van alle ouderdomsgroepe, insluitend toestande soos depressie, bipolêre steuring, angssteurings, obsessiewe-kompulsiewe steuring, en skisofrenie/psigotiese toestande.



Ryan Cramer

Qualifications: MA (Clinical Psychology) , BA Hons. (Psychology), BA (Psychology)

Clinical Psychologist

Ryan holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Nelson Mandela University. He completed his internship at the Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital and Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth where he worked mostly with individuals who needed hospitalisation for psychiatric conditions. He also worked at the Nelson Mandela University community psychology clinic, predominantly seeing children and adolescents needing assessments and psychotherapy. Thereafter, Ryan completed his community service at Uitenhage Provincial Hospital, Orsmond TB Hospital and Park Centre Clinic providing psychological services to the broader community.

Prior to starting private practice Ryan was employed by the Department of Health as a clinical psychologist at Uitenhage Provincial Hospital in the Eastern Cape. Here, he delivered services to inpatients and outpatients. He worked with children struggling with emotional and behavioural difficulties, adolescents and adults presenting with adjustment, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, as well as assisting individuals and families in coping with newly diagnosed medical conditions.

Ryan was trained in and prefers to work from an integrative perspective. This approach allows for the flexible adjustment of therapy to suit the individual’s therapeutic needs. Ryan aims to provide you with a space in which you feel safe to explore challenging feelings and interactions, distorted thoughts, and unhelpful patterns of behaviour. This is done through an interactional, empathic, and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship. Ryan holds the view that the over-arching outcome of therapy is to improve your functioning and quality of life.
